Week 3 Part A: Discussing Use of Design & Branding
When setting up my pages to advertise my baking, Aesthetic, design and branding are the main things I focus on when creating my website, with photos and warm tones, as I was on the Apple website, I really liked how simple and gentle the colors are on the eyes, everything is zoomed so it was easy to find what you're looking for, the first image I saw was their new iPhone SE, iPhone 11 and the iPad Pro, it gives all information regarding the device you are planning to purchase, making it easy to navigate from selecting colors or finding the best monthly payment price, trade-in price and the model of the device. In my experience, the Apple website is pain-free to use and is laid out professionally.
Next, I choose Toyota because I am familiar with their cars. As soon as the website opened, what kept me engaged was their layout for promoting their new vehicles with a modern graphic design in the background. They were promoting 3 different new cars per slide, four slides in total with the style of each car, mpg, and prices. As you scroll down they have a layout that allows you to explore the individual vehicles. I really enjoyed the colors and a happy family image with their Toyota vehicle. They also have links for their other platforms, such as Pinterest, Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, and Instagram. I was impressed that their number one priority was to keep connected with their customers on all social media platforms. They convinced me to upgrade my Toyota! It would be nice if they had contact information on the home page like the Apple website did, and photos and names of sales reps.
The website I thought wasn't appealing at all was Gatesnfences.com, It was definitely outdated and way too much information crammed on the home page. It was not user friendly, it has 65 links on the left of the homepage to be exact that will take you to 1,000 more links to select, by then I would have given up. The colors they selected did not match very well, they have black, white, grey, blue, red, lime green, brown, and creams. The font was dramatically different in sizes, some regular some super small and hard to read. I think this whole website needs a ton of improvement, It should be redone by a professional, and brought into the 21st century.
The Pennyjuice is what I explored next. The layout was not horrible, it has a cute image of children on the home page, although they have paint cups, not juice cups which was a little confusing for me given that they sell juice not paint. That is already a bad start in promoting their juices. As I scrolled down they were promoting their 15 flavors of juices which I had clicked on the link and it still did not have a list of flavors it just had images of the juices, until I selected "Order now", it then took me to a check out with their flavors. The colors on their website were super bright and kind of random, I did not like how the headline followed as I scrolled through the page making it harder to read information. They have all their contact information on the home page which I did find useful, and a couple links to check out their Facebook and Twitter. I don't believe this website was professionally made. They need to work on a user-friendly layout, with a clear indication of what they are offering.
